Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 7, 2026

The Association of the Devon Christmas Elves ("we," "us" or "our") is a registered charity in Devon, Alberta. We respect your privacy and collect only the information we need to help local families at Christmas and to thank and receipt our donors. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Family Referrals

Referrals are taken by phone only. The information you share during a referral is recorded on a paper form and is seen only by our intake volunteer. It is used only to provide a gift card hamper to the family being referred. All referral information is kept strictly confidential and is shredded once the campaign is over. We do not enter referral information into any computer system or share it with anyone.

Donors

If you donate, we keep your name and mailing address so we can send you a tax receipt and a thank-you card. This information is stored securely in our accounting software, which is managed by our accountant, and is kept only as long as needed for our financial records and Canada Revenue Agency requirements. Online donations are processed by CanadaHelps. When you donate through CanadaHelps, your information is handled according to the CanadaHelps privacy policy, and CanadaHelps shares your name and address with us unless you choose to donate anonymously.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not send newsletters or marketing emails. The only fundraising mail we send is a yearly letter to businesses in Devon at the start of our campaign, asking for their support.

Our Website

Our website does not ask you to create an account or enter personal information. Our website provider collects basic, anonymous visitor statistics, such as how many people visit each page, and may use cookies to do this. This information does not identify you personally. Our website links to other websites, such as CanadaHelps and our community partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.
